6'3" 256 lbs. born 10/20/54 in Eufaula, Oklahoma Eufala High School University of Oklahoma Buccaneers 1976-1984 Drafted first overall by the Buccaneers in the 1976 draft. Wore #63. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Played in 121 career games and started 177, all as a Buccaneer - third most when he retired. Has 742 career tackles, second most in team history at time of his retirement. 78.5 career sacks most in Bucs history. Had 1 fumble recovery for a TD (9/1/79 versus the Lions). Had four 10+ sack seasons. Had four 3 sack games. Forced five fumbles each in 1977 and 1981. Retired following a back injury prior to the 1985 season.
Selected to All-Pro teams after the 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983 and 1984 seasons. Played in the 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985 Pro-Bowl games, selected Pro Bowl co-MVP in 1982. The other MVP was Chargers TE Kelin Winslow, who coincidentally was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame along with Selmon in 1995. Named NFC Defensive Lineman of the Year four times and NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1979. Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
